Meet our four-legged family

These are the ladies and gentlemen.

Each one was chosen for his or her special beauty.

Inez

Registered Shorthorn
Inez raised an amazing steer this year. She has raised some fine calves.

Crabby

Registered Shorthorn
Crabby is one of our favorite momma cows.

Angie

Registered Shorthorn
Angie should be due for another Hector calf this summer.

Donna

Registered Shorthorn
Donna had another little bull.  He is looking like a herd bull prospect.

No. 9

Angus-Limousin Cross
No. 9 had a black bull calf this spring.  Her udder could feed two or more calves.  We love her!

Opal

Maine-Anjou/Appendix Shorthorn Cross
She adds the "blue" to our rainbow herd.  She just had a beautiful Hector heifer!

Hennessy

Registered Shorthorn
Our "home grown" cow raised an outstanding steer last year.  She had another beautiful baby boy this fall.

Hector

Registered Shorthorn
He is absolutely the best bull ever!  His babies come out tiny and grow up big.

Diane

Registered Shorthorn
This solid red cow had a pretty roan boy with Hector last year.  She should be due this spring.

J. C.

Registered Shorthorn
Officially, Janet's Choose Me, raised a darling little boy last year.

Goldie

Registered Shorthorn
Goldie had another solid red bull this winter.  We've got bull calves all over the place!

Sunny

Registered Shorthorn
Sunflower had her calf unassisted.  Way to go, Sunny!  Hector's calves are always small.

Dolly

Registered Shorthorn
This Hill Haven Fire Storm grand-daughter had her second calf in less than 11 months!  That is a productive female.

Claire

Registered Shorthorn
This heifer came from the good people at Heart of the Prairie.  She is a Hill Haven Fire Storm daughter!   She birthed a pretty little steer.

Surprise Girl

Shorthorn Plus
She has gone to stay with Dad's herd for a while.  We are expecting great things from an Angus mating.

Brut

Shorthorn Plus
Izzie's smoky, little boy will hopefully be a herd sire one day soon.

McKenna

Shorthorn Plus
No. 9's pretty little heifer is also staying with Dad's herd this year.  She will breed to his Angus bull.

Master Card

Registered Shorthorn

Rosebud

Shorthorn Plus
We added another blue roan to the herd.  She is a beauty from Gilman Shorthorns.

Chinook

Shorthorn Plus
This massive bull will be the herd sire for Dad's Angus this year.  He was another Gilman addition.

Max Rosa

Registered Shorthorn
This was the Lot #1 heifer at the Revival Sale.  We were so blessed to be able to purchase her!

Augusta Pride

Registered Shorthorn
Every Rainbow Herd needs a Pride heifer.  This beauty has a bright future ahead  of her.

Kendra

Registered Shorthorn
This was my favorite heifer at the Revival Sale!  I was thrilled to be able to bring her home.

Meet our security team

Obi-Wan and Anakin

They were actually rescue donkeys.

How we obtained them is a long story.  We have had them longer than the cows.  They have proven to be worth every penny of the dollar that they cost us.

Obi-Wan

Security

Obi-Wan is the "old man", at least that's what he looks like.  We really have no idea of his actual age.  He is a sweet man, doesn't mind if you pet him...especially if he thinks you have a tasty treat.  He will eat out of your hand.

Anakin

Security

Anakin is the "bad boy".  He will eat out of your hand, but reluctantly.  Also, we don't recommend getting near his backside.
